There is a cozy little beach community in Long Beach called Belmont Shore. This curious little area is known for it's mixture of local businesses intermingled with established chain stores. It creates an area where you find the streets alive with a blend of locals and tourists; where people from all over Southern California, as well as tourists from around the world, enjoy walking our wonderful street, shopping at many of our unique shops or stopping for a bite to eat at one of our many fine restaurants. And, when the night falls and the "salty tang of the ocean air" rolls in, couples, young and old alike, can be found strolling the street, taking romantic moonlit walks along the 2nd Street promenade. With their dogs!

For, if it weren't for the wonderful support of the pets and their parents in the community, Wiskers wouldn't be the store it is. Customers delight in seeing our customers pulling their parents in from the street corners with only one thought in mind - I want to savor the morsel that awaits me at Wiskers! Pets are always welcomed at Wiskers and, whether browsing or shopping, treats are always available for those on their best behavior!

Belmont Shore is the home to the first Wiskers and we were a natural fit for the neighborhood. Pet lovers, both local and tourists, stop in at Wiskers to find the most distinguishing, "unique gifts for pets and their parents ™".

Jim, Scott, and Carolyn opened the first Wiskers here on October 25, 1999. Because of our strong connection to Hawaii, it was only natural that our grand opening included some of the Hawaiian traditions as a part of our festivities. Fresh leis were flown in by our friends in Hawaii for all of our guests. Hawaiian music drifted through the air, and maile leis were brought in for a traditional Hawaiian blessing of the store. David Nuueha, internationally known in the surfing community and as an official ambassador from

Hawaii to the mainland, donated his time to perform the traditional Hawaiian blessing. Friends, family, and close associates gathered to share in our joy and help ease the transition between the spirits of the old and the new.

It's our belief that the blessing of the store has helped to create a unique shopping environment for our customers. Come in, relax, and enjoy the merchandise that we've searched throughout the
