Surf City, USA, Huntington
Dog Beach, Huntington Dog Park, the Park
Bench Café with its doggie friendly
menu... what else would describe paradise
to your four-legged friend. When they named
California after a mythical paradise, Califia,
they must have been thinking about Huntington
Beach.
Whether chasing balls in the
waves on a warm winter day, strolling along
the shops at Main Street, or watching your
owners take a walk along the pier, it's
just great to be here.

People from all around Southern California head
to Huntington Beach when they want fun with their
dogs. And what a natural location for Wiskers! We
are only minutes from the sand, surf, and pier.
After having fun at the beach or the park for the
day, head downtown to Main Street and enjoy some
treats with your favorite four-legged friend.
Huntington
Beach, founded in the 1880's, is the third largest
city in Orange County. It's been consistently
ranked as one of the safest cities in America,
one of the best places to raise a family, and
one of the best locations for businesses. When
Wiskers thought about expanding and moving into
the Orange County marketplace, Huntington Beach
was a perfect fit. With some of the finest weather
in the world, this old-fashioned beach town attracts
people who could live any place on earth. Best
known for its scenic pier and miles of sand and
ocean waves, Huntington Beach was immortalized
as Surf City in surfing songs from the city's
own Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean fame. Locals
know Huntington Beach offers outdoor living at
its best. And tourists flock to Huntington because
of it's proximity to such California legends as
Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Movieland Wax
Museum, and the numerous surfing championships
that call Huntington Beach home.
Huntington
Beach is the home to the second Wiskers and we
were a natural fit for the fun lifestyle enjoyed
by our neighbors. Pet lovers, both local and tourists,
stop in at Wiskers to find the most distinguishing,
"unique gifts for pets and their parents
(tm)". Jim, Scott, and Carolyn opened the
second Wiskers on July 4th, 2001 - just in time
to see the Huntington Beach July 4th parade head
past our store! (The 4th of July parade is billed
as the biggest parade west of the Mississippi!).
Once again, we went back to our Hawaii connections
and celebrated our grand opening in Hawaiian style.
As part of our new tradition, fresh leis were
once again flown in by our friends in Hawaii for
all of our guests. Hawaiian music drifted through
the air, and maile leis were brought in for a
traditional Hawaiian blessing of the store. We
were once again honored to have David Nuueha,
internationally known in the surfing community
and as an official ambassador from Hawaii to the
mainland, perform the traditional Hawaiian blessing
of the store as part of our opening. Friends,
family, and close associates gathered to share
in our joy and help ease the transition between
the spirits of the old and the new.
It's our
belief that the store blessings are a part of
our culture and have been instrumental in creating
the unique shopping environment we offer for our
customers. Come in, relax, and enjoy the merchandise
that we've searched throughout the major markets
of the world to bring to you. If you don't leave
feeling relaxed with a smile upon your face, then
we haven't
fulfilled our mission.
We hope you
enjoy our web site, and, if you're in the Southern
California Market, be sure to pay us a visit.
